CIPD Level 5 L&D Course Details

At CIPD Level 5 we offer the Associate Diploma which upon successful completion leads to Associate membership of the CIPD and will enable you to apply a wide range of organisational L&D management skills in the workplace. 

Our learning and development training will accelerate your career progression and provide you with an internationally recognised CIPD qualification. With this course, you will develop relevant and essential L&D knowledge and skills, and increase your earning potential. 

For those interested in studying the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Organisational Learning & Development, you must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

  • Have limited L&D experience in an entry-level L&D or HR role
  • In a managerial-level position with experience that involves some elements of L&D
  • Hold a university degree and have the desire to advance their L&D studies at a higher level than the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate

If English is your second language, we recommend that you have achieved one of the following (or an equivalent):

IELTS: 6.0 overall score with a minimum of 5.5 in each category
TOEFL: 79 overall score with a minimum of 17 in each category
Cambridge: Grade C or above

However, this is not mandatory and we can review your case on an individual basis.

You will be expected to complete a written assignment, up to 4,000 words, for each module that you study, This, in turn, will allow you to demonstrate your newly acquired knowledge, gained through the course, along with the skills you have mastered.

You will then submit your assignments online, where they will be marked by our assessors and moderated by CIPD.

CIPD Level 5 in L&D Modules

You will study the 3 core and 3 specialist modules, along with 1 optional module of your choice during this course.

This core module examines the connections between organisational structure and the workplace in a business context. It also considers the factors and trends that may impact business strategy and workforce planning, whilst recognising the influence of culture, employee wellbeing and behaviour in delivering change and organisational performance.

This module will help you understand the importance of capturing quantitative and qualitative evidence to gain insight and evaluate critical information. It focuses on analysing evidence to improve decision-making, learning how measuring the impact of people practice is essential in creating value.

Through this module you will learn how applying key professional behaviours, including ethical practice, courage and inclusivity, can build positive working relationships and support employee participation and well-being. It considers how developing and mastering new professional behaviours and practice can impact performance.

This module is about recognising how individuals are increasingly wanting to learn at their own pace, by their preferred method, and in a way that fits with their personal schedules and lifestyle.

In addition, you will learn how effective organisational learning embraces formal and informal socialised activities, while also understanding the benefits of driving performance through learning, and understanding how L&D professionals must facilitate approaches for those who learn in these ways.

In this module, you will get to examine the relationship between the learning & development needs of employees and organisational goals.

Essentially, this module focuses on the elements of theoretical and contextual learning design in facilitating impactful learning experiences that support performance and productivity.

This module focuses on the effective facilitation of learning activities which have an impact. This includes knowing how to prepare an effective intervention, making use of pre-learning activities and personalisation to create learning that can be transferred back into the business context.

In addition, the module also explores facilitation techniques, whether face-to-face or online, and the principles and ethics that underpin the delivery of a positive learning experience.

The specialist employment law module looks at the key areas of employment legislation and its legal framework. Generally it focuses on how people professionals are obliged to take account of legal requirements in different jurisdictions when carrying out the varied aspects of their role.

This module focuses on how adapting leadership styles to manage, monitor and report on equality and diversity is essential for inclusive practice and legislation.

The importance of promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce to drive a positive culture and celebrate diversity and inclusion increases organisational performance, as well as meeting the needs of employees and customers more effectively.

This module is designed to help People Management practitioners understand people practice from an international perspective. 

It focuses on the challenges, considerations and importance of people practice in an international context. You will learn about the importance of people practice, along with the process and benefits of managing expatriates.

The CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Operational Learning & Development is designed for those with some working experience, seeking mid-level L&D roles. This qualification is also suitable for those who have experience of training out-with learning and development (for example, as a manger), as well as for those who are new to learning and development but hold a degree and would like to begin their studies at a higher level.

The CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic Learning & Development is designed for seasoned L&D professionals, with considerable L&D experience, looking to embark on postgraduate-level study. This qualification will prepare learners for strategic senior L&D roles and allows them to apply for their CIPD Chartered Membership. 

Alternatively, for those who would rather specialise in HR, they can opt for qualifications such as CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management and CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management.

Yes, you are required to be a CIPD member for the duration of your CIPD studies. 

Unless you are an active CIPD member, we cannot submit your assignments for moderation, provide you with assignment grades, or award you with your qualification. Therefore, you must be registered before you submit your first assignment. 

We will provide you with full details on how to join with a Student Membership, following your enrolment. You will then need to pay an annual Student Membership fee, for which our CIPD Advisors will give you the most up-to-date costs. 

If you are planning in fully funding the course yourself, our flexible 0% payment plans allow you to spread the cost with our interest free monthly payments plan, or additionally pay for the qualification in full during your enrolment process.
